Neurology

A neurologist is a specialist who is trained to diagnose disorders of the nervous system.  The nervous system consists of the brain, spinal cord and nerves.  Many muscle disorders and pain problems also fall within the neurologist's field.

Neurologists see patients with a wide range of problems.  These include pain, headaches, dizziness, seizures, blackouts, and stroke.  Diseases causing confusion and memory loss, including Alzheimer's disease, are also evaluated.  Numbness, tingling, weakness, and incoordination are frequent symptoms of neurologic diseases.  Neck, back or head injuries may require evaluation by a neurologist.
